Greek Journalist Revealed Prisoner X

zygierGreek reporter Jason Koutsoukis, correspondent of the Australian newspaper The Age in the Middle East, reportedly was the one who disclosed the identity of 34-year-old Australian-Israeli Ben Ben Zygier, the “Prisoner X” Mossad agent, who committed suicide in Tel Aviv Ramle’s Ayalon Prison in 2010.

The death of Zygier, who was detained by Israeli authorities  in a top-security jail cell under constant camera surveillance, in Ayalon Prison nearby Tel Aviv, has caused uproar in Australia, whose Secret Service suspected him being a Mossad secret agent.

In 2010, when Koutsoukis met him in Jerusalem, he asked him if he was an agent recruited by Mossad. Ben Zygier denied it and was hostile toward  him, the reporter siad.

Zygier’s death was revealed by the Australian TV channel  ABC, which also said he worked for Mossad agent. The case has become more complicated now with reports that Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu convened a secret meeting attended by heads of Israeli media asking them not to screen or report the case, because this would embarrass the government.

According to the Times of Israel, Zygier immigrated to Israel in 2000, working as a Mossad agent for years, including heading a front company that sold electronics to Iran, a country he was said to have visited several times utilizing his Australian passport. Back in Australia in 2009, he was reportedly called in for questioning by Australian security authorities. He was arrested and jailed in Israel in early 2010.
