The body of twenty-four year old Greek-American singer Jackie Kastrinelis, was found on theĀ Seven Seas Voyager luxury cruise ship when it docked in Darwin Harbour, Australia.
The young woman was a graduate of the University of Hartford. The police are investigating her death and examining her cabin which is considered to be a crime scene.
According to information, she suffered a head injury during rehearsal on the night of Feb. 2 and was given medication by the ship doctor.
Police Detective Superintendent James O’Brien said in a statement cited on the Northern Territory Police website: “The Crime Division is no longer treating the death as suspicious. Further toxicology results will be analyzed in due course to determine the exact cause of death.”
After learning the news, her family traveled to Australia. Kastrinelis had been lead singer in the cruise ship since 2011.
Jean Ann Ryan, who runs the firm responsible for hiring performers on the ship, said she was ā a ray of sunshine, a life force and a beautiful person.ā Lori Verderame who knew and worked with Kastrinelis said: “‘She made a very big impression on everyone, she won’t be forgotten.’
