New Greek Ambassador Appointed to Australia

Haralambos Dafaranos is the new H.E. Ambassador of Greece to Australia filling up the post of his predecessor Alexis Christopoulos who retired in August.

Dafaranos has a long experience of 32 years working for the Foreign Ministry in Greece and has already served in the Greek Embassies to Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and India, as well as in the Consulate General of Greece to South Africa, Sweden and Israel. Before appointed to his current position, Dafaranos was the Director of the A10 Directorate of the Greek Foreign Ministry responsible for Asia and Oceania issues (2009-2010), while from 2010 to October 2012 he was the Director of the Diplomatic Office of the President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias.

The new Greek Ambassador will present his credentials to the General Governor of Australia Quentin Bryce on November 21st. He will also accompany the Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece Konstantinos Tsiaras during his official visit to Australia in late November.
