Monash University Offers Modern Greek Studies

Monash University aims to give a boost to Modern Greek studies abroad by offering  a variety of Greece-related courses for young students who want to earn Master’s Degrees at Hellenic Studies, officials of the school said in a joint announcement with representatives of Australia’s Greek community.

According to the tganews.com, leaders from the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria, together with the Melbourne Education Office of the Greek Consulate, met with Professor Rae Frances, Dean of Arts at Monash University, and Associate Professor Rita Wilson, Head of the School of Languages, Culture and Linguistics to discuss the future of the Greek language and cultural studies program at Monash.

They reportedly agreed that the main objective was to establish a Modern Greek course of the highest quality to offer students curricula in research and teaching fields. Monash officials were said to have briefed members of the Greek community about donations to the program and said that all funds collected were used to pay the professors.
