Greek-Australian nutritionist Antigone Kouris-Blazos is about to present her new book, entitled You Are What You Cook, which includes nearly 80 Mediterranean recipes. Apart from being delicious, the Mediterranean diet offers longevity as well, she says.
Kouris-Blazos says she believes that vegetarian recipes, when combined with nuts and legumes, are the perfect choice for a balanced diet. She has been the head of a scientific research at the Latrobe University in Melbourne, which focuses on Greeks’ over 65 body weight, health and dietary habits. When the Australian team collects the data, they will compare them to that of Harokopeio University of Athens.
According to a previous study conducted by the university’s scientific team, the Mediterranean diet could provide various benefits. She said that “their aim is to realize the extent that a diet could affect modern people’s nutritional habits, as well as its relation with obesity and their general health condition.”
