Chobani Greek Yogurt Building a plant in Dandenong, Victoria

The cows in Victoria better get some rest. Chobani is spending $ 20 million to build a new plant next to their existing plant in Dandenong South, and they will be needing a whole lot of milk for the Greek yogurt.

Peter Meeks, Chobani Australia managing director, said the expansion would be a huge boost for its manufacturing capacity and its 135-strong employee base.
“The new plant will more than double our capacity,” he said. “The great thing is we are still working on what that means, but it will definitely mean more people.”
The local farmers are happy. Although the plant currently makes 250 tonnes of yogurt a week, the Chobani brand required one litre of milk for every three litres of yogurt.
