Poem Collection ‘Where is the Place for a Village’ by Christos Fifis Launched in Melbourne

The Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne & Victoria, the Greek-Australian Cultural League of Melbourne and the Hellenic Writers Association of Australia presented Dr. Christos Fifis’ launch of his new poem collection titled ‘Where is the place for a village?’ in Melbourne.

Dr. Christos Fifis was born in Koskina, Agrinion and migrated to Australia in 1965. He has published poetry in Greece and Australia and taught Greek Studies at RMIT, Victoria College and La Trobe University for 30 years. His research work includes the collection, editing and publishing of the poems of the late poet Nikos Ninolakis, in 1986. He is a volunteer broadcaster of the Melbourne multicultural Radio 3ZZZ and a regular columnist of the South Australian Paroikiako Vima.

His poetry presents and reflects on the life and experiences of the Greek-Australian community and issues concerning Greece and the global ‘village.’

Dr. Thanassis Spilias and Ms. Maria Vamvakinou, Federal Member for Calwell, introduced the book to the attendees of the Greek Community Centre on May 20.
