Greek-Australian Gives Away His $150,000 Garage For Free

Arthur Matsakos owns a garage worth $150,000, but he’s giving it away for free.

At first, he decided to sell it, but he wasn’t good at bargaining. So, he decided to give it to an unemployed person for free.

The Good Samaritan was concerned about unemployed people in Australia; instead of hiring one as an employee, he decided to give a lucky person his panel business for free so that they could live happily with their family.

“Sometimes all you need is that kick-start in life and for someone to just give you that opportunity – this is my way of helping out someone,” he said.

How did Matsakos announce his idea? He posted an ad in the Herald Sun newspaper and immediately, more than 500 people called him.

“What I reply when they call me, is to come visit Camperdown and the garage, so that I can be sure they really need help and that they know how to do this work,” he says.

Camperdown, the village where Matsakos lives, is quiet but doesn’t lack any sports or entertainment activities. “It’s perfect for a family to live here,” adds the garage owner.

He admits that he has another job in the popular Camperdown Cruise Festival. “Life isn’t about money. You know, people say ‘it’s a lovely day today,’ and I say ‘it’s a lovely day every day.'”
