30th Greek Festival of Sydney Presents ‘The Battle of Greece and Crete’ Photographic Exhibition

Within the framework of the events for the 30th Greek Festival of Sydney, the Joint Committee of the Battle of Crete and Greece presents ‘The Battle of Greece and Crete’ Photographic Exhibition.

This photographic exhibition displays 54 photographs taken in 1941 by Australian soldiers when they first met the Greek people, and then as they were withdrawing from Greece to Crete and finally evacuating Crete.

Most of the photographs  have never been seen in the public arena and were enlarged from those in private collections held by families of the veterans.

The Joint Committee consists of:

– The Cretan Association of Sydney & NSW

– The Greek Sub-Branch of the RSL

– The NZ Sub-Branch of the RSL

– The Ashfield Sub-Branch of the RSL

– The 6th Division Association
