Michális S. Michael’s Book on Cyprus Conflict to be Presented in Melbourne

Papazisis Publications and the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria are co-organizing the official presentation of the latest book of Dr Michális S. Michael, “Resolving the Cyprus Conflict: Negotiating History” (2009, Palgrave Macmillan) on Wednesday, March 28, at 6:45pm.

The book presentation will be hosted at the Greek Orthodox Community residence, on the corner of Lonsdale and Russell Str., Melbourne.

Coordinator of the event is journalist Costas Nikolopoulos, while the artistic program is organized by Anti Sidiropoulou and Stelios Tsiolas. The translation and editing of Dr Michael’s book belongs to Chrysostomos Perikleous.

Former UN Secretary General, Boutros Boutros-Ghali (1992-1997), commented on the book that it is “a vivid account of the Cyprus conflict”, adding that “Michális Stavrou Michael provides us with the most articulate researched analysis of the Cyprus peace process during the last decades. Resolving the Cyprus Conflict is a reference for politicians, policy-makers, academics, journalists, NGOs, and students involved with the Cyprus problem”.

Michális S. Michael has extensive experience in conflict resolution, Australian foreign policy, multicultural and inter-religious dialogue. Dr Michael has dedicated much of his professional research examining the tensions between Greek- and Turkish-Cypriot communities in Cyprus and abroad, as well as other ethnic and Diaspora communities.

Dr Michael is an occasional political commentator for media outlets such as SBS, ABC Radio National, Voice of America, 3XY, 3CR and 3ZZZ ethnic radio. Dr Michael currently coordinates the Dialogue Diaspora Programme and the Northern Interfaith Intercultural Network project.
