Sunday Herald Sun Reports on Pending Greek Migrant Wave to Melbourne

With unemployment rates steadily rising in Greece, urban qualified workers have started expressing new interest in migrating to Australia in search of better life prospects.

Especially in Melbourne, where the Greek Community is one of the strongest in presence, Greek potential migrants have filed applications or asked for further information before visiting Australia, reported the Herald Sun.

In its report, the Australian daily newspaper notes that the country’s Department of Immigration figures show Australia is on track to record a 65 percent increase in Greek migrants this financial year.

The new wave of migrants is the result of the ever worsening economic situation developing in debt-ridden Greece.

More particularly, the last six months of 2011 have intensified the need of Greek people to search for job and a new, easier life away from home.
