2012 Adelaide Art Festival Hellenika

FESTIVAL HELLENIKA is Adelaide’s annual multi-disciplinary arts festival dedicated to the maintenance, development, promotion and celebration of Hellenic links in the Arts.

Formerly known as The Greek Cultural Month, the Festival is facilitated, coordinated and presented by the South Australian Council for the Greek Cultural Month Inc (SACGCM).

Hellenic links are part of the legacy of Australia’s fabulous multicultural social fabric, making FESTIVAL HELLENIKA a celebration and an affirmation of these wonderful links, striving to build on our Hellenic/Australian cultural and artistic heritage as part of the mainstream arts world, as well as providing opportunities for local artists interested in Hellenic connections to express themselves.

In addition to many cultural and artistic events over the last two decades, FESTIVAL HELLENIKA is proud to have initiated and helped bring to fruition ‘The Oud Project’ in 2003. A project funded by Arts SA and developed in partnership with NEXUS Multicultural Arts Centre, “The Oud Project” involves local musicians with backgrounds from Afghanistan, Egypt, Greece, Iran, Ireland, and Lebanon, and special guest Joseph Tawadros from Sydney.

As an individual you can play a significant role by supporting the SACGCM and FESTIVAL HELLENIKA through a simple donation of $20. Your name will appear on the ‘FRIENDS OF FESTIVAL HELLENIKA’ list on this web site and you will be placed on our mailing list.
