Greek Australians Pay Tribute to Manos Loizos

The Hellenic Women’s Cultural Association Estia paid tribute yesterday to Greek composer Manos Loizos. The acclaimed composer of post-war Greece is considered one of the greatest music figures of his time and has composed for many famous Greek artists such as Haris Alexiou, George Dalaras and Mikis Theodorakis.

The band “Epistrofi” played some of Loizos most renowned songs, such as “Ola se thymizoun”, “Den tha ksanagapiso”, “S’ akoloutho” and others, which have marked a whole generation and still remain on the top of Greek all time classic charts.

Greek-born Angelis Kalodoukas held a lecture on the composer’s life and work.

Entrance was free and the event was hosted at the Treasury Theatre, Lower Plaza, 1 Macarthur Stree in East Melbourne.
