Australian Students Visit Crete

Twelve students from New South Wales visited Rethymno in Crete last week for the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Crete during World War II.

The students, on scholarship from the Australian Prime Minister’s office, were accompanied by Darren Mitchell, Director of the Australian Prime Minister’s Office. Both students and their teachers visited museums and historical sites of the island mostly associated with WWII events, especially the Battle of Crete.

The visiting students met with local students, shared their views on the educational system of the two countries, and exhanged gifts as a token of friendship and recognition of the contribution of Australian allies to the Battle of Crete.
