Greek Australian businessman and Head of the Kalymnian Brotherhood in Darwin John Halikos will be the main sponsor of 2013 Panhellenic Games, which will be held in Canberra. The wealthy Greek Australian offered $100,000 to support the organization of the Games.
The Coordinator of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) Mr. Yiorgos Aggelopoulos could not hide his satisfaction and pride over the great success of this year’s games in Darwin.
“This year’s Games have been the best in every aspect. The organization, the premises, the fans, the events, the results and participation were unique” said Mr. Aggelopoulos adding that the coming Panhellenic Games in Canberra will coincide with the centenary celebration of the foundation of the capital city of Australia.
“We all hope that the Canberra Games will exceed the 450 participations of this year’s Games in Darwin” said Mr. Aggelopoulos, while he additionally thanked the President of the Greek Community Mr. Yiannis Ninolakis and his partners for the perfect organization of the Panhellenic Games and the generous sponsorship of $200,000 as well.
