A new TV series, The Slap, goes to air on ABC TV on October 6. Itʼs based on Christos Tsiolkas bestselling novel of the same name about what happens when a group of friends attend a barbeque and one of the men slaps another personʼs child.
The group of friends are then forced to choose sides as the parents of the child decide to press charges. Each chapter/episode is then told in a different perspective of one of the main characters as the story unfolds.
The series stars a plethora of Australian talent including Toula Yianni, Sophie Lowe, Alex Dimitriades, Essie Davis and UK Oscar Award Nominated actress Sophie Okonedo, as well as directed by some of Australiaʼs most well known directors including Tony Ayres (Home Song Stories, Walking on Water), Robert Connolly (Balibo, The Boys), Matt Saville (The King, Noise) and written by Brendan Cowell, Cate Shortland, Kris Mrksa and Alice Bell.
ABC TV has organized a special 1-hour programme for Sunday, 9 October in which Christos Tsiolkas, The man behind the Slap, will be invited. According to many TV critics, the Slap is expected to become a huge success.
