The Victorian Minister for Gaming, Michael O’Brien, announced that INTRALOT Gaming Services Pty Ltd (Intralot or IGS), a wholly owned subsidiary of INTRALOT Australia Pty Ltd, has been awarded the Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) Monitoring Licence for a period of 15 years beginning on 16 August 2012.
Starting next August, the Greek-based gaming giant will be responsible for collecting data electronically from Victoria’s 27,000 poker machines to ensure venue operators are correctly declaring their profits.
INTRALOT will undertake a number of EGM monitoring functions in order to fulfill the State’s primary objectives with respect to EGM monitoring services. These primary objectives include ensuring accurate and uninterrupted monitoring of EGM transactions and single and multiple venue linked jackpot arrangements and the capture of data and information with respect to EGMs for regulatory, taxation, research and related purposes.
The Minister for Gaming, Michael O’Brien said that he had accepted the recommendation of the Secretary of the Department of Justice that “based on the assessments, it is in the public’s interest that IGS’s application for the monitoring licence be granted.”
