Flavours of Greece Festival Kicks off in Melbourne this Week

All through August and September, some of the top Greek restaurants in Melbourne will present Hellenic feasts in this year’s Flavours of Greece festival. The festival starts on Wednesday, 17 August, at the Philhellene restaurant. Unique Greek flavours will be on display for everyone to taste. The launch of the book ”Forty Fine Years – A Celebration of the Pantazis Family and Parap Fine Foods” will also be hosted on the night. Parap Fine Foods has contributed to a great extent to bringing the world’s finest foods to Australia.

Guests can dine at Greek restaurants throughout the festival and taste the different Greek dishes to take them back to the Greek culinary culture. For example, at the Spitiko restaurant, you can enjoy delectables from the early days of Greek Australian cuisine.  The Tsindos restaurant will serve a Cypriot banquet, and Salona will present a seven-course degustation called the Black Athena.

On Saturday, 17 September, the Greek Orthodox community of Melbourne and Victoria and the Doncaster Greek School Parent’s Committees will host all the important family dinner dances. Pireau Blues will host the dinner event ”The Foods of the Gods” while Alpha Ouzeri will celebrate Greek culture and symbols through food.

Flavours of Greece is supported by the Antipodes Festival, the Greek Orthodox community of Melbourne and Victoria and the Bank of Cyprus.

For bookings, contact directly the restaurants to check tickets and prices.
