According to a MIA news agency telegram, John Hyde, Labour MP from Perth in Western Australia and Shadow Minister for Culture and the Arts, Planning, Heritage, Multicultural Interests, and Citizenship, visited Fyrom and assured government officials of Skopje that supporters of “Macedonia” in Australia, including himself, were working for the state’s recognition under its own constitutional name.
After his meeting with Antonio Milososki, President of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, Hyde issued a provocative statement in which claimed: “In Australia, there are firm supporters of the “Republic of Macedonia”. We work to promote recognition of the “Republic of Macedonia” under its constitutional name. We come in order to strengthen relations between Western Australia and the “Republic of Macedonia”.
