Vasilis Vasilas, born in Australia, is an English teacher. A few days ago he presented his book “Our Homeland: Lesvos” to The Mytilenian Brotherhood of Sydney. According to the chairman of the Greek community, Greeks should not forget their origins and their cultural inheritance.
The author’s work is significant because it introduces to the new Greek generation its ancient history. There are more than 600 pictures in the book and some of them are extremely rare. The writer added that it is important to maintain the Greek identity and tradition in Australia.
In the past, there was a relationship coming only from the side of Greece to Australia but now the relationship is a two way effort. Today, Greek-Australians make an effort to cultivate this relationship.
