The Trial of Foula Pantazi Interrupted as New Evidence Comes to Light

The trial of Greek Foula Pantazis, accused of helping the drug baron Tony Mokbell escape from Australia while he was on trial and fled to Greece, was abruptly interrupted.

Jurors were discharged from their duties because, as mentioned, new evidence came to the surface and has to be investigated. A new trial is expected to begin next week.

Foula Pantazis, a 60-year old cleaner is accused of helping him flee to Greece, in an operation reminiscent of Hollywood adventure movies which cost over one million U.S. dollars.

The court argued that Pantazis and her husband Byron, helped to buy a boat, Edwena, with which Mokbell escaped from Frimantle and arrived in Greece.
Mokbell was accused of drug trafficking and was released on bail with one million U.S. dollars when he escaped from Australia.
He was finally found in Greece, arrested and today, he is serving a long prison sentence.
