Greek Easter Celebrated Traditionally in Australia

The fact that this year’s Greek Orthodox Easter coincided with Western Easter and the good weather that prevailed (reminiscent of a Greek spring day), contributed to the glorious celebration of Easter by Greeks in Australia.
Increased attendance of Greek Orthodox believers was observed in temples throughout the Holy Week, but especially during the procession of the Epitaph and on the day of the Resurrection.
Photos of Melbourne’s streets flooded from expatriates who participated in the procession of the epitaph and the Resurrection and carried the holy light in their homes, was very impressive. On Easter Sunday, a spectacular sunny day, Melbourne was “drowned” in the smells of roasted lamb on the spit. Greek festivals were held in many neighborhoods and will continue on Monday and Tuesday.
