Sydney Myer Performing Arts Awards Honors Two Greeks

Greek-Australians Paul Capsis and John Paxinos received the Sydney Myer Performing Arts Awards at the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Hobart. The Awards are a major event on the Australian arts calendar which was established in 1984.   It honors the achievements of the country’s finest performing artists and producers in the fields of drama, dance, opera, music and theatre.

Actor Paul Capsis was awarded $50,000, whereas John Paxinos was awarded $20,000. Paul Capsis is undoubtedly one of Australia’s most individual and versatile performers. John Paxinos has supported the small to medium arts sector over the past 30 years and has built artistically vibrant and financially robust companies.
