1st Greek Student Film Festival Successfully Premieres!

The premiere of the 1st Greek Student Film Festival was successfully held at Melbourne Como Palace Cinema within the framework of the 17th Greek Film Festival.
The event was attended by Christos Salamanis, Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Federal MP, Maria Vamvakinou, State Secretary, Jenny Mikakos, officials and a large number of parents and students.
The project was an initiative of the Education Office of the Consulate General of Greece in Melbourne in collaboration with the Department of Education and the Antipodes Festival.  It was sponsored by the Victorian Multicultural Commission.
In total 21 films were presented of 4 minutes duration each.  The films were by students from state colleges, Greek language schools and students from Greek studies departments from Universities of Victoria.  The students competed in 4 categories and won 12 awards; 3 in each category. The selection criteria were a) creativity and imagination b) level and appropriateness of language used and c) technical sound and image quality.
