Last year Greek – Australian property developer Ross Makris was listed as the richest man in Australia under the age of 40. His total net worth is set at $460 million. This year his name is not featured in first place and not even among the first hundred listed. He did not lose his millions but decided to join his businesses with his father’s; Costas Makris, one of the richest people in Australia.
According to Business Review Weekly which publishes the list, the property of Costas Makris (photo) is over a billion dollars and he is the only Greek – Australian billionaire.
Two more Greeks are featured in the under 40 rich list in Australia. One of them is the “King” of cosmetics Napoleon Perdis. The 40 year old Napoleon Perdis created a line of cosmetics which he sold through his own concept store in the Sydney suburb of Paddington in 1995. He went on to build a worldwide empire based in L.A. Napoleon’s business partners are his younger brother Emanuel Perdis and his wife Soula-Marie. Both of whom he cofounded his cosmetics empire from the very outset. His property is estimated around $90 dollars and is ranked 12th in the list. Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics is also the Official Makeup Partner of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, featured at the Primetime Emmy Awards
Another Greek- Australian is listed among the BRW under 40 richest is 31 year old Costas Athanasiadis from Sidney, with a property of 72 million dollars which he doubled since last year. Athanasiadis abandoned his career as a football player ten years ago in order to work in a family pub. Later on he opened the Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar and currently owns a chain of 63 stores across Australia. He plans to launch 20 more stores within the following 12 months. He is already expanding his business in Asia and his first location will be in Singapore.
