The 2010 Antipodes Festival presents a program of films that highlight the contribution Greeks have made in politics, the arts and letters.
Each documentary in this series by Greek filmmaker Demetres Anagnostopoulos is a visual biography of an influential Greek figure of the 20th Century.
The program titled 6 Great Greeks on Film include; Melina Mercouri (foto) & Mikis Theodorakis, Konstantinos Karamanlis and Andreas Papandreou, Constantine Cavafy and Michael Cacoyannis, Constantine Cavafy and Mikis.
6 Great Greeks on Film will be presented at the State Library of Victoria Theatrette on Swanston Street. Demetres Anagnostopoulos will be in Melbourne to introduce his films.
The series was produced originally as Modern Greeks for The History Channel.
Anagnostopoulos studied film at the University of Massachusetts, California State University and the University of the Museum of Fine Arts. His documentaries have won numerous awards.
