Greek bouncer guilty of Zammit’s death

3333-150x150A NIGHTCLUB bouncer was last night convicted of bashing Sydney tourist Doujon Zammit to death in Greece.
Marios Antonopoulos (foto) was found guilty of bodily harm resulting in death, downgraded from the more serious charge he faced of murder with intent.
Two co-accused were also found guilty of the downgraded charge of being accessories to bodily harm causing death for their involvement in the attack.
Mr Zammit’s parents Oliver and Rosemarie travelled from Sydney for the court case and had hoped for the maximum charges and sentences available.
Antonopoulos, who would have faced a life sentence if convicted of murder with intent, had admitted to the assault but denied intending to kill Mr Zammit.
Antonopoulos was last night sentenced to a total of 22-and-a-half years in prison.
