Canberra hosts congress of Cretans of Australian and New Zealand

logoSessions of the annual congress of Cretans of Australian and New Zealand – the 30th in succession – was held in Canberra, Australia, on January 7-10. Delegates began arriving last Thursday and that evening there was an event to facilitate young Cretans becoming acquainted with one another. Dance groups and traditional musicians from other Australian states also attended the congress.
According to the president of the Cretan’s federation, Yannis Assariotis, the items on the agenda involved discussions about the coordinated action of Cretan bodies throughout the world, focusing on the World Council of Cretans.
