
A lecture entitled `Plato´s Republic, the meaning of Wisdom and Self knowledge and the challenges that contemporary man faces´ will be held on the 3rd January 2010, in Melbourne by world famous Philosophy professor David Horan.
Five different forms of government, their benefits and drawbacks are presented amongst others in the Republic, with an ending proposition by Socrates and his fellow philosophers that knowledge and wisdom are the basic characteristics of every good leader.
David Horan, who is one of the basic members of the Philosophy School of Dublin, has thoroughly studied Socrates´thought, speaks ancient greek and for the past 21 years has been holding `Plato lectures` presenting Plato´s works.
In addition, he has been holding seminars in Greece on the subject of Plato and his Works for 12 years now, introducing the attendees to Socrates´manner of thought and the works of Plato and connecting this with visits to archeological sites.
The lecture will take place at the Fairfield Amphitheatre, Heidelberg Road, Fairfield on Sunday the 3rd January and the ticket costs 20 dollars. For more information and bookings please call 9815 1496
