The “Golden Greek” of the Australian film industry, Alex Dimitriades, is filming one movie after the next. The “Herald Sun” newspaper first gave him the title of the “Golden Greek”, on account of his many film and television successes.
Dimitriades, completed the shooting of his film “Kings of Mykonos” on Mykonos island just two months ago, and is already filming a new film -an Australian one this time- entitled “Summare Coda”. In addition , he started rehearsals for the theatrical version of “Rain Man” in which he will have the leading role.
His first major feature hit was Anna Kokkinos’ film “Head On”, in which he interprets the role of a gay expat.
With this film, which was also shown at the Cannes festival, he made his acquaintance with the film-lover audience of Greece. Last year he starred in the film “Wedding Party”, directed by Greek-American Christine Crokos and filmed mostly on the Greek island of Crete. And so he was back this year on the island of Mykonos, for the film “Kings of Mykonos” which will be universally screened in mid 2010.
Dimitriades has also played in Hollywood productions, such as the “Haunted ship”, “European jigolo” and more, in Australian films and a number of television series.
