The multi awarded expatriate Australian cook George Calombaris has proclaimed war against the known food chain. The famous chef, who mostly owes his reputation to his appearance on Channel 10´s `Celebrity Masterchef`, did not hesitate to take on the program´s biggest advertiser, the McDonalds chain, who spend hundreds of thousands to advertise their hamburgers, where Australia´s best of the best cooks compete for first place.
George Calombaris, armed with the sharpest knife of his kitchen, chops away not at tender pork, but at the hamburger king, Mcdonald´s.
Posing with his nephews Michael and Anthea, along with his own ´handmade´ hamburgers, he states that he prohibits his nephews from eating such food when they are invited to birthday parties at the food chain´s premises, as is common nowadays.
According to mr. Calombaris, ´McDonalds are evil`. He further explains that ´it is horrible industrialised food´ and wonders `why eat that, when it´s so easy to make your own hamburgers at home?`
He doesn´t even allow his nephews to look at the product when they go to birthday parties held there. Moreover, he alleges that McDonalds `are an american chain, which has spread like a plague all over the world. I hope one day it dies. They sell horrible, industrialised food, with no origin. What they do is not good. It´s unhealthy and I won´t stand for it.`
The talented chef is not only a imaginative cook who takes traditional greek recipes and makes them unrecognisable, but also has a brilliant business brain !
His `Hellenic Republic` restaurants are doing fine, and so is the ´Press Club`. His tv programme is bringing in record breaking numbers, and so are the sales of his greek cooking books. His is now preparing a kid´s cook book and maybe this is the cause of his McDonalds attack.
