Victory for Palamaras at the Hellenic Golf Open

A golfer from Melbourne won the 2009 Australian Hellenic Golf Open (AHGO) was held at Moonah Links on the Mornington Peninsula on October 24 -25.

The tournament attracted 100 players from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Greece, who endured 36 holes of stroke play over the two days at Moonah Links.

Nikos Palamaras from Melbourne was crowned the 2009 AHGO Champion and was presented with the perpetual AHGO Trophy, based on the “Winged Victory” statue of goddess Nike.

Alex Katholos from Sydney finished second and Peter Theodorakopoulos from Melbourne, was third.

The tournament raised money for its nominated charity for 2009, the Australian Greek Welfare Society, in line with the goals of the Australian Hellenic Golf Federation to raise awareness and funds for a charitable organisation involved in the Hellenic community.
