Former ‘Hercules’ star Kevin Sorbo will join Nick Giannopoulos and Vince Colosimo in “The King of Mykonos”, the highly-anticipated sequel to Giannopoulos’ 2000 hit, “The Wog Boy”.
Australian AFI Award nominee, Alex Dimitriades (“Underbelly”), Italian actress Cosima Coppola and Greek movie star Zeta Makripoulia have also been added to the cast.
“I am honoured to be able to bring Hercules back to Greece. Kevin Sorbo is a terrific actor who is well known and loved throughout the world for his syndicated TV series and his comedy films” Giannopoulos says. “Zeta Makripoulia is the Nicole Kidman of Greece. She has starred in two of the most successful Greek films in the past 3 years”
“Cosima Coppola has one of the most famous surnames in the film business, and just as much talent as her namesakes. She is a big star on Italian TV and will be making her feature film debut on The Kings of Mykonos, Alex Dimitriades is one of my best mates, and I am absolutely rapt to have him by my side playing ‘Mihali’ the smooth talking immaculately dressed richest man in Mykonos. Alex possesses enormous comedic skill as an actor and is a fantastic addition to our amazing cast.”
The film heralds the return to screen of characters Steve and Frank, following the boys on a journey to Mykonos where Steve discovers he has inherited a beach on the island worth millions, from an uncle he has never met. The pic is the sequel to one of Australia’s most successful comedies of all time, the original “The Wog Boy” grossed $13.4 million in 2000, and has been seen by over 7 million.
The film is directed by multi–award winning director Peter Andrikidis, known best for his work with Colosimo & Dimitriades on gritty television series ”Underbelly”.
